Frequently Asked Questions
Why work with a fee based advisor?
Fee-based advisors, unlike commission-based, do not accept compensation based on product sales. Therefore, they have fewer inherent conflicts of interest in how they get paid and what they recommend. In not receiving commission based on product sales, a fee-based advisor can act with only their client's best interest in mind.
Were you always a financial planner?
I had a very strong background and foundation in family owned and large corporate manufacturing businesses for 15 years.
How did you begin in financial planning?
I had a desire to then make a career change and work in the financial field. Estate and Personal Financial Planning caught my attention, and I was hooked on the financial planning process.
How did you go about it?
My career in financial planning began with the insurance industry, with a strong foundation in risk analysis. I then grew into the Estate Planning specialization toward the late 1980’s. But my fascination with the Financial Planning and Asset Management really began when I worked with a CPA firm that was preparing customized plans for its high net-worth clients. That was when my focus changed to Financial Panning with an emphasis on Asset Management.
How did your firm get its name?
Indian River Financial Group incorporated in Stuart, Florida in 1991, and served as my advisory entity (Registered Investment Advisor firm) so as to allow me to offer fee-based advisory services. We serviced Palm Beach and Martin Counties at that time. The name Indian River was the name of the Intracoastal Waterway near where all those wonderful citrus fruits are grown. We later moved to Boca Raton where we are located today.
How do you work with clients today?
We offer a unique process, based on a careful analysis of the client’s needs and objectives. We call it “The Wealth Optimization System™”.
Why is it unique?
We break down our process into four quadrants, but I would have to say that the first one is the most important. It is the “Discovery Phase” which truly sets us apart from other advisor firms. It allows us to work with all net-worth clients, and to properly assess their visions and goals.
